The Coronation of Poppaea
The production of L’Incoronazione di Poppea - the Coronation of Poppae)directed by Bob Wilson and conducted by Rinaldo Alessandrini was a big success in 2015, and returns to the Scala in September this year.
The empress is performed by Carmela Remigio. The opera by Claudio Monteverdi was first performed in Venice during the 1643 carnival season, and established the composer as the leading musical dramatist of his time.
