SummerScape is a blend of opera and music – with some theatre, dance and film also, and takes place at the Frank Gehry designed Fisher Center for the Performing Arts. 

 Integral to the event is the  annual Bard Music Festival, this year celebrating the life and music of Giacomo Puccini. Also on the programme is Iris, the opera by Pietro Mascagni, a friend of Puccini’s. 

The opera tells the story of Iris, an innocent girl tricked into leaving her elderly frail father to go to Tokyo’s red-light district. Soprano Talise Trevigne performs the title role.
